May 15, 1932 – Apr. 6, 2011
Anna Worthington, age 78, of Colorado Springs, found everlasting peace on April 6th, 2011. Her final
days were spent surrounded by her family whom she dearly loved.
Anna was born in Haibach, Austria on May 15, 1932. She was raised on the farm along with her three
sisters and three brothers. Working hard became a natural part of who she became as an adult. In 1951
met her husband to be, Don E. Worthington who was a soldier stationed in Austria. They married in
1952 and moved to the United States. The wife of a military man requires many sacrifices but Anna
always made a wonderful home for her husband and their three children. By the time Don decided to
retire from the Army, the family had been stationed in Fort Carson and decided to make Colorado
Springs their permanent home. Anna loved the mountains, which always reminded her of the home she
left in Austria. Taking nature walks were some of her fondest memories especially when they were
accompanied by one of her children or grandchildren. Life was not an easy road for Anna but the love
and care of her children and grandchildren was always present. An orderly and clean home was
something she enjoyed and took great pride in keeping. While her children did not always appreciate
having to participate, they learned that with hard work many things could be accomplished including a
rewarding life. What fun she would have shopping for a bargain, eating fresh blueberries and spending
time with family.
Anna was preceded in death by her husband, Don Worthington, her son Michael Worthington, her
parents, and two brothers. She survived by her daughters, Brenda Wadkowski of Colorado Springs,
Jeanne Waltz of Wyoming, granddaughter Christina Wadkowski of Colorado Springs, grandsons, Joe
Christman of Wyoming, John Christman of Alaska, Robert Dean Waltz of Wyoming, great grandchild
Michael Wadkowski of Colorado Springs, son-in-law Charlie Wadkowski of Colorado Springs, sisters Erna
Em of Austria, Theresa Pahule of California, Mary Spry of Texas, one brother and numerous nieces and
nephews.
Anna was a devout Catholic whose belief and love for Jesus was always present in her life.
A Celebration of Life will be held on April 9th, 2011 at 9:30am at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel.
