Andrew A Ratzlaff, 99, of Colorado Springs passed away on October 15, 2017 surrounded by family. He was born in Marion, South Dakota on November 10, 1917. Andy was married to Esther Engbrecht on May 4, 1941 in South Dakota and enjoyed more than 76 years of marriage. Andy was a farmer by trade when he entered the United States Army in 1942 during WWII. He was stationed at Camp Carson near Colorado Springs. Upon his discharge from the Army he returned to Marion, South Dakota where he worked at Yopp Furniture doing furniture repair. He eventually moved his family to Colorado Springs where he had a career in Civil Service as a Custodial Supervisor at Ent Air Force Base and Peterson Air Force Base. He was dedicated to serving The Lord. His other passions in life were for the outdoors, wood working, fishing, camping and his family. Everyone he met was a friend. He is survived by his wife Esther, daughter Marcene Kipe and husband Gary of Fairplay, MD, son Eugene Ratzlaff and wife Sharon of Wellington, CO , son Derwin Ratzlaff and wife Dale of Colorado Springs, seven grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10 am on October 21, 2017 at Austin Bluffs Evangelical Free Church, 3435 Maizeland Road, Colorado Springs, Co. Visitation at the church prior to the service at 9 a.m. Interment will be at Memorial Gardens following the Service.
