Alice M. Vigil, 89, longtime resident of Colorado Springs, passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 6, 2013. She was born to the late Eugene and Mary Gertrude Torres on October 11, 1923 in Capulin, Colorado.
In addition to her parents, Alice was preceded in death by her three brothers: Alex, Solomon and Gilbert and her sister, Lillian Gonzales. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband of nearly 59 years, Emilio Vigil.
Alice is survived by her sister, Claudine (Charles) Roybal. Left to cherish her memory are her four children: Sandra Kirby; Cedric Vigil; Cynthia (Jack) Dekker and Michael (Laurel) Vigil. Also surviving are four grandchildren: Tony Vigil, Evan Dekker, Lauren Dekker, Matthew Vigil and several beloved nephews and nieces.
Above all else, Alice loved and cherished her family but also enjoyed gardening and walking and was devoted to her faith and to her church.
A Rosary service will be held at Memorial Gardens Chapel, 3825 Airport Road, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80910 on Friday, January 11, 2013 at 6:00 p.m. with viewing from 5:00-7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 12, 2013 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 1830 South Corona Avenue, Colorado Springs, CO 80905. Burial will be at Memorial Gardens Cemetery with a reception to follow in the Memorial Gardens Chapel.
