Alice E. Smith, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away peacefully on May 11, 2018, in Woodland Park, Colorado. She was born in Canon City, Colorado, May 14, 1933, the youngest of three children born to the late May and Vern Wilson. She lived in Colorado Springs for over 50 years and spent the last 4 years in Teller County.
She held several positions at the Pikes Peak Mental Health Center before retiring after 25 years of service. She loved gardening, camping and spending time with her friends and family. When she moved to Florissant, she especially missed her cribbage-playing friends at the senior center. Family and friends were very important to her, and she “adopted” people wherever she went. She was mom to many, spreading sunshine to all who knew her.
She leaves behind a brother, Charles E. Wilson, of Grand Junction, CO, two children, Shelley R. Williams of Powell, WY, and Susan E. Gillmer of Woodland Park, CO, seven grandchildren, Sam, Cory, Derrick, John, Jr., Sarah, Jered and Brian, and 16 great-grandchildren, plus numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
A Celebration of Life is scheduled for Monday, May 21, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at Swan-Law Funeral Directors, 501 N Cascade Avenue, Colorado Springs. A reception will follow at the same location.
