Alexander Wilson (Alex) passed away peacefully in his home in Colorado Springs, Colorado on Monday, August 7, 2017. Alex was born August 19, 1925 in Denver, Colorado to Jesse and George Wilson. He lived in Detroit for a short time before moving back, and Alex lived in Colorado the rest of his days. After serving in the Navy during WWII, he graduated from Denver University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology. In 1951, he married his lifelong partner, Teedie. Shortly thereafter, he became a parole officer for the State of Colorado and the happy couple went on to quickly build their family. He was promoted within the Colorado Department of Corrections from Associate Warden and then to Warden in Canon City. Continuing with his career through many promotions, he eventually retired as Chief Director of the Inspector Generals office in 1986 from the Department of Corrections. Alex enjoyed traveling and spending much time with his family and grandchildren after his retirement.
Surviving Alex are his wife, Teedie, his five children and their spouses: Terry (Bill) Foster; Kevin (Diane) Wilson; Scott (Julie) Wilson; Brett (Beth) Wilson and DeeDee (Darren) Zent. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Lacey, Katie, Alex, Sarah, Joshua, Alexis, Lydia as well as two step grandchildren Mel and Nathan. He enjoyed two great-grandchildren, Myla and Brinson. Alex was preceded in death by his parents and one grandchild, Samuel.
Services will be held at 10:00 am Monday, August 14th at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Interment will be held at 1:15 pm on Tuesday, August 15th at Fort Logan Cemetery, Denver, Colorado.
