Alan was a loyal customer of ours and always put a smile on everyone's face, even those he didn't know His laughter filled the store and he was definitely a joy to be around. His positive and uplifting personality will certainly be missed at our store.

I had the pleasure of being a work assoicate of Alan. He left a profound effect on me with his friendliness, and yes his great stories. He was always the same, no matter when you saw him. (Boy, I'll tell you what) was his trademark. Another saying Alan had that affected me was ( MAKE IT A GOOD DAY) and I truly believed Alan made all of his days good. Spector family, you truly had a gem.May God keep you always.  Madeline Claborne

I keep in my mind the best memories about my uncle Alan : particularly his patience during a trip with his stepmother (Marguerite), his excessive taste to finish at the end of dinner salads (lettuce, leaf etc ...) and his love of french food. 
we will keep in our minds forever his kindness, his humor and many other qualities that we will remain forever engraved in our memories and our hearts.

My heart goes out to Jacqueline and all of the family!  I will miss having Alan stop into see me on Ft. Carson as he so often did over the years!  He did have the most incredible sense of humor that I was so grateful for any time that I saw him!!!  I always knew that a good story was coming when he'd start the sentence out with, "Boy, I'll tell you what........"!!!!
May God give you comfort during this time and always!

An Eulogy for Alan --
The Jew - stalwart in self-esteem, righteous in faith, tolerant of all others
The Soldier - loyal to comrades, obedient to the end
The Husband - loving in service, devoted across time and place
The Republican - unquestioned belief in the ideology and its leaders
The Psychologist - uncompromising and clear vision of reality
The Mensch - a joy and inspiration to all

I am truly grieved by our loss  and send my sympathy and condolences to Jacquie. Alan and Jacquie were the most faithful and caring couple I know. I'll miss Alan's jokes and "infernal" optimism. I'm so glad he was able to stay home as he aged.  May my tears comfort you in your grief and Hamakom yenachem etchem b'toch she'ar avelai Tziyon Vi'yerushalayim.

Donna and I only met Alan a few years ago, but the time that we shared with him were always full of fun and laughter.  He knew how to tell a joke like nobody else could and always had one tucked away if the conversation seemed to pause.  We enjoyed his company and will miss his friendship, stories and laughter. May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.  May God bless Jackie, Dave, Gregory, Tamara and the entire Spector family as they work through this challenging time and celebrate Alan's life.

I first met Al in Heidelberg, Germany in 1973. As a young single soldier, Al and Jackie graciously took me under their wing. Many memories of fried eggs Jackie would make us for lunch. Learned a lot about the Army and life from Al. Our friendship lasted through the years.
And, believe it or not, I looked forward to the silly "Roses are red, Violets are blue" poems my wife and I would receive each Christmas and birthday.
So, Al, in memory of you........

Roses are red,
Violets are blue,
The world will be a much sadder place

  I served with Alan in Vietnam in 1970.We knew each other casually as we both lived in the same barracks. Alan's roommate transferred out, and I asked Alan about moving in with him. His first response to that request was"Well, I guess I would rather put up with model airplanes that I would a drinker." So began our 45 year friendship.
   Alan always had a smile on his face and a joke to tell. He wore a military issue hearing aid and had to attend the pickup device to his T-shirt under his uniform which meant that when he talked on a standard telephone receiver he had to turn the headset upside down so he could hear what was being said to him and hold it to his box under his uniform. When he would sleep at night he would keep the earpiece plugged into his ear and placed the receiver box on the box next to his bed. Sometimes after he was asleep I would place a glass of water on the box next to his bed and put his receiver box behind the glass. Then I would wake him up and make bubbly sounds and he would look over and it look like that his receiver box was in the glass of water. Laughable, affable Big Al, as he liked to call himself, would look me in the eye and say" Well, you got me that time.
   After Vietnam Big Al was assigned to Fort Carson Colorado and I was assigned to Fort Riley Kansas. I had taken money I had saved while in Vietnam and bought myself a new tangerine orange Porsche 911 Targa. On one of my trips out to see Alan in my new car I took him on a fast and furious trip up to the top of Pike's Peak. Alan held on for dear life all the way to the top of Pike's Peak and Saying to me "this is the wildest damn ride I have ever had."  His son David, was about 10 years old and when I left for the return trip to Fort Riley I brought David back with me for a week in Kansas of flying RC airplanes. David spent the entire trip back to Kansas lying in the back window, and when I took him back home he said to his father " Bob was really driving fast." 
   I was transferred to Korea in 1978 where I met my wife Kathy,who was an Army nurse. After leaving Korea we were married and both were stationed at Fort Huachuca Arizona. After I retired from active duty Kathy resigned her commission and was teaching nursing at Cochise College.
   We moved back to Connecticut in 1984 so Kathy could be close to her father. 30 years later he passed away and we moved back to our house in Arizona in September of this year. During this 30 years, Big AL and I communicated regularly by telephone and e-mail, and he would always tell me I had to be crazy to stay up in Connecticut, Especially during the wintertime. He sent me countless jokes over those years, and when I informed him that we were indeed moving back home to Arizona he said to me,"well, it's about time you got some common sense and move out of Connecticut."
   I called Alan after returning to Arizona, and talk to him several times before receiving the call from his daughter that he had passed. Each time we spoke he would always tell me that he had a joke to tell me that would just make me laugh. I always thought for sure that he would outlive me because as long as I have known him he was always the prime example of physical fitness. I will surely miss my e-mail and phone conversations with my longest friendship with anyone in my entire life. I will miss my friend each and every day until it is my turn to finish my life chores, and hopefully then I will be able to see my good friend once more. So Mote It Be.

We are so pleased to have met Alan last year. We are very proud to be part of his family. We will remember his laughs and jokes, his joy of life. Alan and Jacqueline are so nice people. We will never forget Alan, my buddy.

Allan, known to me as a lifetime associate, co-worker. et all for 49 years will be greatly missed.  Over the years our friendship was one that I shared with my family.  I  wish him well on his new journey.

What a great man and a wonderful friend! I will miss all the laughs and exchange of thoughts we had while having lunch together at Evans Dining Facility. Alan made my day every time he came with his brilliant wit and understanding the problems I had and of the world. I will also miss his awesome emails that always seemed to pick me up when I was down. Alan will forever remain in my heart.

Our friendship began nearly sixty years ago, before Alan and Jackie were married when Jackie and. Micheline worked at the Army post exchange in Bersol near Gradignan, France and Walt and Alan were in the Army.  We became lifelong friends and shared our families together.  The guys shared a special bond having both served their country in difficult times.  Alan was known for his kindness, hard work, his love of life and family,  he always will be remembered and missed by everyone who lived him.  Shalom

We have been friends for 50 years and it has been a very close friendship, like family. Jackie and I have been like sisters and the love I have had and will always have for the whole family is very meaningful in my life. My love and prayers are with everyone.

Noel and I had the pleasure of living next door to to Alan and Jacqueline for about five years in the 80's; to this day, they are the best neighbors we ever had! One example: Alan would cat sit for us while we were away. One time, we returned to find that Alan had replaced a burned out bulb in the dining room chandelier while we were gone; he even went to the store to buy the bub -- that's just the neighborly guy that Alan was! We enjoyed many an evening, and delicious meal courtesy of Jackie, with the Spectors - filled with laughter and love -- and one time, even belly dancing! We admired Alan's telling of a good joke, his quest for life-long learning and his love of family, especially his precious Jacqueline! To Alan -- and his life well lived!

My brother and I were "joined at the hip" growing up in Connecticut. We adored each other.  He took me to my first prom. He was my protector and stood up for me and supported me when the chips were down. We both inherited our father's sense of humor and gift for joke telling and puns. We could insult each other and tease, but the love was so deep it never got in the way of our friendship.  He was my HERO. Goodbye dear brother.  Love, "Sissy-poo."

I had the pleasure of meeting Mr Spector, earlier this year, while he was visiting his son Dave.  At the very moment of our meeting, he welcomed me into the conversation and treated me as if he had known me for years. What an incredible man who leaves an unforgettable legacy.  My condolences and prayers go out to the Spector family as they find a way to get through the pain of their loss and the healing necessary to overcome their grief.

My husband was a friend of Alan and Jackie before we got married.  When I first met them I felt as though I had known them for years as well.  I will always remember Alan's sense of humor and loved sharing E-mails with him.  I know he will be greatly missed by his loving family and many friends.  He was my husband's dearest and oldest friend.  My deepest sympathy to his family.
