Victoria Segunda “Sagie” Rivera, age 81, of Colorado City, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 10, 2015. She left peacefully from her residence surrounded by her children. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, November 13, 2015 at 10 AM at Saint Ann’s Catholic Church with Father Michael Udegbunam officiating. Burial will follow in the Mitchell County Cemetery under the care and direction of Kiker-Seale Funeral Home.
Sagie was born on March 6, 1934 in Jewett, TX to Eduardo and Cresencia Gonzales and had been a resident of Colorado City since 1941. She married Louis Rivera on April 18, 1954 in Mitchell County. He preceded her in death on August 12, 2013. She was a homemaker, a devoted wife and mother; loving grandmother and friend. She was a member of the Saint Ann’s Catholic Church, where she taught catechism for 20 years. She was also involved in Saint Ann’s CCD, the Guadalupanas, the Methodist ladies quilting club, and the Garden Club.
Those left to cherish Sagie’s memory are her two daughters: Becky and husband, Gabriel Ornelas of Colorado City and Anita and husband, David Hoyt of Seguin; four sons: Jesse and wife, Irma Rivera, Joe and wife, Debbie Rivera, Edward and wife, Cheryl Rivera and Renegade Rivera, all of Colorado City; 17 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren with one on the way; her sister, Josie Yruegaz; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and special friends.
She is reunited with those who went to rest before her, a daughter, Amanda Rivera; her parents; three brothers; and five sisters.
The family welcomes friends from 6-8 PM with a rosary at 7 PM at the Kiker-Seale Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, November 12, 2015.
