Mildred Jacqueline Isbell Mitchell, 86, of Colorado City, Texas, passed away in Mitchell County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on August 29th, 2021. Mildred was born May 3rd, 1935 in Mart, Texas. She was the youngest of four born to James Robert and Levie Claira Isbell.
Mildred married Walter Lee Mitchell on February 28th, 1957 in Colorado City, Texas and had two children Ava Jane and Audie Dean. Mildred was a gifted home-maker and wonderful cook. She loved to cook for family and friends. She was lovingly known as “Momma” to most of the town. Mildred’s hobbies included crocheting, gardening, painting and wood burning. She and her husband, Walter, worked together to create one-of-a-kind grandfather clocks, china hutches and lawn furniture. After Walter retired they traveled to visit family and attend bluegrass festivals.
Mildred is survived by her daughter Ava Jane and son-in-law Kelvin (Melvin) McMillan of Marietta, Oklahoma. Three grandchildren Millicent Danne McMillan of Tahlequah, Oklahoma, Allyn McMillan of Burkburnett, Texas and Kristopher Mitchell of Colorado City, Texas. Mildred also has four great grandchildren Dylan Sanders, Adalyn Marie McMillan, Destyni Mitchell and Kyrin Mitchell. Many nieces, nephews and dear friends also survive.
Mildred is preceded in death by her husband Walter and Son Audie Dean.
There will be a visitation for family and friends Wednesday, September 1st, 2021 from 5-8 pm at the Kiker-Seale Funeral Home Chapel. A graveside service for Mildred will be held Thursday, September 2nd, 2021 at 10 m in the Colorado City Cemetery with her nephew Michael Moore officiating.
