Lonnie Carl Mize

L.C. Mize, 99, of Colorado City, TX passed away Thursday, July 28, 2016 at Cogdell Memorial Hospital in Snyder. A funeral service will be held at the 22nd and Austin St. Church of Christ in Colorado City on Monday, August 1st at 2:00 pm with Brandon Denton and Royce Clay Sr. officiating. Burial will follow at Hillside Memorial Gardens in Snyder. Kiker-Seale of Colorado City will be handling the funeral arrangements.

L.C. was born in Mitchell County to Thomas Jefferson and Stella Irene Mize on April 11, 1917. He was a retired farmer.

L.C. is survived by his wife of 80 years, Clyda Mize. Also surviving is his son Darrell Mize and wife Linda of Snyder, and a daughter Pearlene Nolan and husband Dale of Snyder. Grandchildren Jon Shaw, Paige Shaw, Kristi Hanley, Rusty Mize, Nikki Miller and spouse Rob, John Stewart and spouse Jennifer, Cindy Burton and spouse Troy all of Snyder. Also surviving are 18 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.

He is preceded in death by his daughter Elsie Mize Shaw, a grandson Todd Shaw, a granddaughter Lana Shaw Culpepper, her granddaughter-in-law Debbie Nowell Shaw, and by her grandson-in-law Bob Culpepper.

There will be a visitation held on Sunday, July 31st from 7-8 pm at the Kiker Seale Funeral Home in Colorado City.

The family would like to thank the medical staff at Cogdell Memorial Hospital and Snyder Oaks Care Center for all the kindness shown. L.C., otherwise known as ‘Papaw’ will remain in our hearts forever.
