Lenetta DuBose, age 94, passed away on March 14, 2019 in a Local Nursing Home. She was born at home on a dairy farm between Peacock and Aspermont, Texas on January 16, 1925 to parents Luther and Carrie Catalin Patton. She married the love of her life, Wayne DuBose on May 9, 1942, when he came home on furlough from the Army Air Corp. She joined him at Luke Air Force Base in Phoenix as they began Wayne’s military career. The couple served at several bases including Guam, Arizona, Colorado and Texas. When daughters Melodie and Jerry began school, Lenetta went to cosmetology school and enjoyed beauty shop work for many years. The couple retired to Colorado City in 1965, where they became partners in the John Deere Tractor and later David Brown Tractor dealerships. In 1972 they moved to Abilene where they sold real estate and enjoyed a bowling league, before moving to the Stubblefield farm near Colorado City in 1983. Lenetta and Wayne loved to travel and enjoyed long trips to Colorado, California and Zapata, Texas. They made good friends wherever they went. They were proud members of the First Presbyterian Church and the Wallace Senior Citizens lunch program.
Lenetta is survived by her husband of 76 years, Wayne DuBose, daughter Jerry and husband Ron Petersen of Granbury, granddaughters Sherri and husband Will Watson of Fort Worth, and Karen and husband Terry Kuehner of Benbrook; 5 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great grand-children.
Lenetta is also survived by adopted family David and Melody Stubblefield of Colorado City, Kamie and husband Nathaniel Brown of Lubbock, KayLee and husband Lorin Wolf of Brownwood, and Krista and husband Kaleb Free of Colorado City, and 8 Great-grandchildren.
She is additionally survived by a sister Maudill Webb of San Diego, California, and sister-in-law Ruby DuBose of Corpus Christi and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Lenetta was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Audrey Parker and Wenonah Toney, Daughter Melodie Ann DuBose, and great-great granddaughter Alaina Raphael.
Funeral services will be Saturday, March 16, at 3:00pm in the Kiker Seale Funeral Home with interment to follow at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Abilene, on Monday March 18, at 1:00pm.
