He was born on June 25, 1946 in Fort Worth, Texas to J.W. and Lodena Feaster Blassingame.
Larry was a man who was strong in his faith and lived according to the Bible, he loved his Lord, loved his family, and loved his community. After high school Larry attended Texas Tech and married the love of his life, Jeanna Scott on September 1, 1968. Before he could graduate from Tech Larry was drafted to the United States Army where he served honorably. Once out of the military Larry started his first career as a Lease Operator for Anadarko Petroleum. After his retirement from Anadarko Larry went to work as a Funeral Attendant for Kiker Seale Funeral Home for over fifteen years. Larry was a life member of the First Baptist Church of Colorado City where he was a deacon for many years. He was an excellent husband a great father and an even better grandfather.
To best describe Larry one could call him a survivor. Larry survived two fights with cancer, then a trip in a tornado, all through the power of his faith and prayer. In his spare time Larry loved to watch his children and grandchildren with their extra-curricular activities, watching Texas Tech sports, especially football, taking his great-grand dog Bailey Jean out searching for pecans, spreading his faith and teaching those around him valuable life-lessons. Larry was an inspiration and a blessing to have around, his strong faith, love for all, and hard work are three amazing legacies that he will leave behind.
Larry is survived by his wife Jeanna, by his son Jason Blassingame and wife Margie, and by grandchildren Brett Blassingame, J.W. Blassingame, Gabby Rico and husband Jordan Almaguer, Madison Kamer and husband Austin, Emily DuCasse, Peyton Ducasse, Ben Allen, and Sarah Allen, as well as by great-grandchildren Aryana Almaguer, Abram Almaguer, and Avery Morgan Kamer. Larry is also survived by his sister Susan Taylor and her husband Chuck, and by many deeply loved cousins and extended family members.
He was preceded in death by a daughter Catherine Blassingame Allen, parents J.W. and Lodena Blassingame, a granddaughter Morgan DuCasse, and by his brothers Gene Blassingame and Bill Blassingame.
