Jerry was born to Travis and Velma Rucker Reynolds on January 4, 1936, in Slaton, Texas.
He graduated from Slaton High School and received a college degree from McMurray University. He married Wilma Jean Anderson in August of 1956, and they shared 67 years together.
He leaves as his legacy his son Austin Blake Reynolds (Heather Payne Reynolds), five grandchildren, Jarrod Austin Reynolds, Brooke Lynn Reynolds, Shelly Lashley Gibson (Zac Gibson), Aubrey Elizabeth Lashley Taggart (Parker Taggart), and Luke Robinson Lashley (fiancé Morgan McCourt), and one great-grandchild Keller League Taggart. He also leaves behind many friends, cousins, nieces and nephews, and sister-in-law Era Jane Richey to cherish his memory
Jerry is preceded in death by his mother and father, his brothers Thurman Durwood and Travis Calvin Reynolds and his loving wife Wilma Jean Reynolds.
Jerry started his career coaching track in Colorado City, Texas, then moved to coach track and football in Denver City, Lubbock, and Andrews Texas. In 1968 he moved back to Colorado City where he made a lasting impact as a community leader. His career in Colorado City included being the principal at Hutchison Elementary School, the principal in Colorado Junior High and concluded as the principal of Colorado High School for twenty years. During the early years of his career, he served in the National Guard for 7 years.
In his retirement, he and his wife enjoyed traveling across North America in their RV with their brother and sister -in-law Era and Dick Richey. Jerry served as a leader in the First United Methodist Church and served as both a member and president of the Board of Directors of the Mitchell County Hospital.
Jerry Reynolds will be missed but never forgotten. His impact on his community will be long lasting.
A celebration of Jerry’s life will be held graveside at the Colorado City Cemetery at 10:00 am June 8th , 2024. Donations in memoriam can be made to The First United Methodist Church of Colorado City.
