Duffie Geraldine Stone

Geraldine “Gerry” Stone, age 91, of Colorado City and Loraine, died Monday afternoon in a local care center. Services will be at 10 AM Thursday, December 19, 2013 in the Kiker-Seale Chapel, with Rev. Monte Wike officiating. Burial will follow in the Colorado City Cemetery under the care and direction of Kiker-Seale Funeral Home.

Gerry was born July 4, 1922 in Sapulpa, OK to William and Nellie Bayless Yocham and had lived in Mitchell County since 1949. She married Vergil Stone on July 30, 1941 in Mt. Carmel, IL. She was the librarian at Hutchinson School for many years, a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and a member of the First Christian Church in Colorado City.

She is survived by her husband, Vergil Stone of Loraine; a son, “Stoney” and wife, Connie Stone of Loraine; 2 daughters: Janet Rodgers of Colorado City and Gayle Thompson of Hamilton; 8 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, 6 brothers and 3 sisters.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
