He is the son of the late Floyd and LaVada Hale. On December 22, 1972, he married his wife, Judy Chambers at the Westbrook Methodist Church. He was a 1970 graduate of Hobbs High School in Hobbs, Texas. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1970-1975 and was honorably discharged as a staff sergeant. In 1976, he began his career in the oilfield working for Mabee Petroleum. In 2004, he retired from Anadarko Petroleum Corp, began his own oil company, in addition to going to work full time with his two sons. Donnie was a strong supporter of Westbrook ISD and was currently serving as President of the WISD Board of Trustees.
He is survived by his wife, Judy Chambers Hale of Westbrook, one daughter, Sheila Holt and her husband Jay of Coahoma, two sons Brad Hale and his wife, Diedra of Westbrook, and Jim Bob Hale and his wife, Mandie of Westbrook, six grandchildren: Jayden Holt, Reagan Hale, Conner Holt, Sadie Hale, Cooper Hale, and Donnie Creed Hale. He is also survived by three sisters, Donna Ginkinger of Westbrook, Diane Petty and her husband, David of Westbrook, Pansy Fernandez and her husband, Paul of Westbrook, and two brothers Eddie Hale of Westbrook, and Ray Hale and his wife, Cindy of Westbrook and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and LaVada Hale and his brother, Wendell Hale.
Visitation will be held Friday, January 31, 2014 at Kiker-Seale Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00pm. Services will be held at 22nd and Austin Church of Christ in Colorado City, TX on Saturday, February 1, 2014 at 2:00pm. Burial to follow in the Westbrook Cemetery.
