Donna Kay Nichols, 64 of Colorado City went to be with her Lord and Savior after a brief illness and stay at the Big Spring Center for Skilled care on Thursday, February 15, 2024 with her loving family by her side.
She was born on July 19, 1959 in Denison Texas to Mervin Fred Owens Jr. and Ava Irene Chipman Owens.
Donna was a kind loving woman who lived by her faith, being devoted to God and family and always showing love and kindness to others. She spent the majority of her life as a Certified Nurse’s Aide working at Kristi Lee Manor in Colorado City for most of it. She was a great wife but an even better mother and grandmother always making sure to be there for her children and her granddaughter whenever she was needed. In her younger years she enjoyed spending time with her father watching her siblings sporting events, then going to local football games, and she never stopped being “daddy’s little girl” a title she carried proudly until she passed. As she got older she enjoyed traveling with her family, especially the trip to Fredericksburg and the trip to Abilene when her granddaughter Abbigail was born. In her spare time she enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, coloring in adult coloring books, reading, listening to a good joke, and spending time with her family. Donna was a member of the Dunn Church of Christ. She was also a member of the Lion’s Club for a couple of years.
Donna is survived by her husband Michael Nichols of Colorado City, by her mother Ava “Chic” Owens of Abilene, by a son Bradley Nichols of Colorado City, daughters Nicole Allen and husband David of Big Spring and Jessica Nichols of Colorado City, and by a granddaughter Abbigail Allen of Big Spring. She is also survived by a brother Ralph Owens and wife Stephanie of Round Rock and by a sister Tammy Salisbury and husband Tom of Abilene, as well as by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her father Mervin Owens Jr., and by a son Anthony Nichols.
A Celebration of Donna’s Life will be held at Kiker Seale Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 21st at 10 am with Pastor Roy Rosson of the Dunn Church of Christ officiating with burial to follow at 1pm in the Texas State Veterans Cemetery of Abilene.
In Lieu of flowers please consider a donation in her memory to the Texas Lion’s Children’s Camp
