He was born on May 3, 1963 in Orinda Chihuahua Mexico to the late Pedro and Petra Lopez Gonzalez.
Cruz was a hard-working man who spent his life doing construction, mostly concrete and pipe construction for a gas plant. In his younger years he had a lot of farm animals that he took care of, as animals were a one of many of God’s blessings to him. He was strong in his Catholic faith, believed in the power of prayers, being true to his family, and staying humble and giving to others. He was a great husband, father, and grandfather, and loved every one family or not the same, making sure not to play favorites. He was the type of man who did not meet a stranger and if he had extra he would even give to a complete stranger. Lent was a sacred time of year for him, and when it came around everybody knew what he was giving up for it. In his younger days he enjoyed boxing and playing baseball, which was a sport he enjoyed most of his life. As he got older he enjoyed watching baseball and soccer and going back to Old Mexico to work on his home there. Lessons of faith, love, kindness, and hard work are just a few lessons his children will cherish and pass on for generations to come.
He is survived by his wife Maria Gonzalez of Colorado City, by his daughter Perla Chaney and husband Chris of Colorado City, sons Roy Gonzalez and wife Mayra of Colorado City, and Jose Gonzalez of Colorado City, by grandchildren David Andrade, Diego Andrade, Chris Chaney II., Rocky Gonzalez, Victor Gonzalez, Ally Gonzalez, Cruz Gonzalez II, Eliana, and Isabella, and by great-grandchildren Violetta Andrade and David Andrade Jr. Also surviving is his mother Petra Lopez Gonzalez of Orinda Chihuahua Mexico, his siblings in Chihuahua Hugo Gonzalez and wife Janet, Freddy Gonzalez and wife Martha, Pedro Gonzalez, Olivia Gonzalez, Patty Gonzalez-Trejo and husband Pilo, Rosaura Gonzalez, and Magda Gonzalez, as well as by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
