

Dr. Billy Bruce Bridgford, age 76, lifelong resident of Colorado City, went to be with the Lord on Friday, December 27, 2013 in Colorado City, TX. He succumbed to his lengthy and courageous battle with Cancer. Visitation with the family will be Sunday, December 29, 2013 from 4-6pm at Kiker-Seale Funeral home in Colorado City. Funeral Services will be held 2:00pm Monday, December 30, 2013 in the First United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the Colorado City Cemetery.
He was born in Colorado City on November 23, 1937 to the late Dr. R.D. “Doc” and Emily Arledge Bridgford. He was married to Judy Roming on March 14, 1970. He graduated from Colorado High School in 1955 and received his bachelor’s degree from Oklahoma State University in 1958. Dr. Bridgford earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery from Baylor University College of Dentistry in 1962. He served as Captain in the U.S. Air Force as a Dental Officer from 1962-1964. He received his AACD from the American College of Dentistry in 1974. Dr. Billy had a private dental practice in Colorado City for a total of 46 years. He was a member of the Texas Dental Association.
Community service was an important part of his life as he was a member of the Jaycees, the Lion’s Club, and served as President of the CISD School Board for 14 years as well as Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce. He was passionate about the Mitchell County 4H & FFA Stock Show and the youth of Colorado City. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church for more than forty years.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Judy Roming Bridgford and his brother David Thomas Bridgford of Maryneal, TX. He leaves behind four daughters and 9 grandkids. Randy, Brittany, and Quay Lloyd of Blackwell, TX. Steve and Bridgett Sturtz and Jordan, Saegan and Edwin Jost of Wall, TX. Chris, Bethany, Colton, Casen, and Cooper Hoegemeyer of Boerne, TX. Jeff, Bettina, Avery and Chandler Walker of Boerne, TX.
Pallbearers will be Tom Rees and Hollis Gainey of Colorado City, TX. James Epperson of Rock Springs, TX. Jimmy Simmonds of Giddings, TX. Jimmy Johns of Maryneal, TX. Dr. Bob Hampton of Sweetwater, TX. Dr. Bud Ramsey of Abilene, TX. Joe Di Caro of Dallas, TX.
Memorials may be given to the Hope Lodge Lubbock of the American Cancer Society, 3511 10th Street, Lubbock, TX, 79415. The Bridgford family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Dee Roach, the staff of Mitchell County Hospital, and Home Hospice.
