He was born at the hospital in Loraine on May 22, 1940 to Howard and Ona Small Preston.
Bill was a good hard working man who believed in the love of family and community, spending 40 years as County Commissioner for precinct 4. He was a loving husband and father, always making sure to put his family’s needs before his own. He was the kind of man who would tell you how it was, if he liked you, you knew and he would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. He enjoyed working, both as a commissioner and as a rancher, taking care of cattle and horses. He was a very smart man who took pride in his mathematical skills and in keeping a sharp mind until his final days. He will be missed by many.
Bill is survived by his sons Beau Preston and wife Whitney of Loraine and John Preston of Abilene, a daughter Ginger Preston of San Angelo, and by grandchildren Wyatt Preston, Rodie Preston, Brooke Preston, and Gerek Preston. He is also survived by a sister Shirley Graham of Loraine and by a brother-in-law Delmer McDaniel also of Loraine as well as by several nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
A graveside service for Bill will be held on Tuesday, August 21st at 10am in the Loraine Cemetery.
He was preceded in death by his wife Ann Preston in 2002, by his infant daughter Doris Marlene Preston, his sister Eloise McDaniel, brother-in-law Clay Graham, nephews Ken Graham and Mark McDaniel, and by a niece Nancy Swindle.
