Antonio Molina Alvidrez

Surrounded by his 6 children Tony Alvidrez met the Lord on December 15,2022. He leaves a legacy of faith, honor, and devotion to all who knew him. Tony had little formal education but was a hard worker, honest, and diligent. Overcoming poverty and strife, he taught himself to read and write Spanish and English never allowing his circumstances of struggle define his success. He valued a good day’s labor and earned an honest wage that supported his family. Determined to give his children opportunities not given to him, he worked long days from the cotton fields to the oil fields, never taking advantage of the skills he had and the desire to continue learning. He was tough on himself and had great expectations of his children. While his physical affection was rare and words of encouragement were not easily spoken, his house was never cold, his kitchen was always full and his children had what they needed. This was the way he loved and when he loved, you knew it. It was in the way he looked you in the eye, his soft smile, and the tender attention he gave when he heard your voice; with a firm handshake from weathered hands, you knew you were welcome in his home and at his table.

Tony loved one woman his entire life, Mary Lou, whose love was intentional, spoken and shown greatly; he was the quiet provider that stood by her side. Together they taught us how to love the Lord, the value of family, service, and hard work. By God’s grace and strength, they overcame the brokenness of their own childhoods to show their children a better way. May we honor them in remembering their lives, their lessons, and their love.

He is preceded in death by his parents Severo Alvidrez and Beatriz Molina, his brother Juanito Alvidrez, and his wife Mary Lou Alvidrez. He is survived by his sister Angie Dominguez, and his six children, Irma Steere, Mary Lou Ornelas, John Alvidrez, David Alvidrez, Yolanda Morales, and Mark Alvidrez. He had 24 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, December 20, 2022 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Colorado City, Texas at 10:00 am. Visitation will be open on Monday, December 19, 2022 starting at 5:00 pm with a Rosary at 7:00 pm at Kiker Seale Funeral Home.
