He was born on November 30, 1954 in Lubbock, TX to Manuel Olivarez Sr. and Trinidad Sanchez Olivarez.
Andy was a man who was wise beyond his years. He loved his Lord and was dedicated to his Catholic faith, was a wonderful husband, an amazing father, and an even better mentor. He spent over 43 years working in packing houses around the United States, the last 38 of which were spent working for the USDA until his retirement as a Consumer Safety Inspector, a job which he loved and would still be doing today if his health were to have allowed it. He was a patient yet stern father who spent his life teaching his family what he could about life and showing them love every step of the way. He was stoic in nature, always holding his head high and never letting life get him down. He came across as a man of few words, but knew how to throw in a good joke, which often came at the right time. He was also a very stylish man, making sure to be pressed from head to toe, often being seen in his cowboy hat, pressed jeans, and cowboy boots. In his spare time he enjoyed everything ranching, plowing up fields, raising cattle, and riding horses, everything a true cowboy would do. The life lessons taught, the smiles and laughs shared, and memories shared along the way will be cherished by those who loved him for years to come.
Andy is survived by his wife Delia Olivarez of San Angelo, by sons; Antonio Olivarez of Texas, Matthew Olivarez and wife Nancy of Lubbock, and Christopher Olivarez and wife Samantha of Roswell N.M., by daughters Diana Houston and husband Chris of Hawaii and Crystal Olivarez and husband Delverth Noria of San Angelo, and by a nephew raised as a son Miguel Olivarez of Lubbock, as well as by granddaughter Isabel Olivarez and several other grandchildren.
