He was born on December 17, 1957 in College Station, Texas to John Paul and Gladys Olivia Parker Jones.
Andy was a man with a servant’s heart who knew nothing but love for his family, his country, and his community. He served his country well in the United States Marine Corp where he departed at the rank of Sergeant, then moved back to Texas from California where he settled in Loraine being one of the most active Firemen the community has seen. If there was a fire or an accident in their community and often times in neighboring communities Andy was quick to answer the tones, up until the day of his passing for 35 straight years. This level of dedication taught his children and grandchildren not only the importance of volunteering, but also about the importance of self-sacrifice, dedication, and love for those around you and for those in need. Even when the tones did not go off, if Andy saw a stranded motorist or someone in need he would be there to help, as he was the kind of man that would give the shirt off his back, if that is what it took.
Over the years, Andy held many jobs, from being a Marine to driving a tractor trailer for FFE and the Upshaw’s out of Rotan to working as a gas station attendant and as a Janitor for Loraine ISD to provide the best possible life for his family. His community saw him as a great example of a model citizen, but more importantly his family saw him as the best husband, father, papa, and role model that they could ever ask for. The lessons he taught through leading by example are lessons that they can pass for generations to come, and Loraine has been truly blessed to have had his dedication and love for so many years.
Andy is survived by his wife Vickie Jones of Loraine, sons Aaron Lee Jones and wife Shannon of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Eric Paul Jones and wife Nikki of San Angelo, by a daughter Vanessa Denise Griffith and husband Travis of San Angelo, by grandchildren Marissa Griffith, Isabel Jones, Azrael Jones, Izaac Jones, Trinidad Jones, Everlynn Jones, and Lauryn Jones, as well as by a sister Gladys Olivia Long of Colorado City.
He was preceded in death by his parents John and Gladys Jones.
