Theresa was born in Macau as the sixth of seven children. Her parents were Miy Qui Kwong and See Wai Joe. Tragically, her father past away when she was four. In 1952, the family lived in Hong Kong for two years. Then she immigrated to the United States with three of her sisters. For six months, Theresa lived with her paternal grandmother in San Francisco, Chinatown until she also past away. She moved around from Nob Hill to the Richmond District, where she attended Francisco Junior High and George Washington High School. In 1958, Theresa's mother finally immigrated to the United States. Being apart for so long, the family reunion became a very happy occasion.
Theresa was a business major from San Francisco City College. After graduation, Theresa returned to Hong Kong and married Francis in 1962. Together, they moved back to the U.S. and settled in San Jose, where they raised four sons. Initially a devoted stay-at-home mother, Theresa always tried to make money to support the family. Theresa opened a small flower shop by herself. Later she sold plants at the SJ Flea Market because her brother own a nursery. At the same time she helped her husband's business filing income tax returns.
In 1977, the family moved to Foster City. When most of her children graduated from high school, Theresa started her career as a real estate agent. She took the same real estate class as her son, Edward. Her worries about not being financially wealthy enough to support the household made her not spend any money on herself and not enjoy life as she should have. She didn't go to many vacations. She didn’t shop for high quality food or clothes. She rather save the money to gain interest or buy stocks. There was only one thing Theresa indulged in. Once in awhile she buys a new car in cash.
Theresa was known for her kindness and generosity, always ready to help friends and family. She lovingly cared for her aging mother and remained active in social and family events in San Francisco's Chinatown with Francis. The couple enjoyed many years together, filling their lives with love, friends, and countless memories.
Your worries are over. Your duty to support others is finished. Go in peace.
