Elisa was born in Huánuco, Peru on April 19, 1957 to Gin and Cindy Cuan. Upon graduating first in her class from Colegio Peruano Chino (Peruvian-Chinese School) “Diez De Octubre”, she moved to the U.S. and held a long, professional career with Chevron- first in the Chemistry Lab and then later in the Information Technology Group until her retirement in 2019. In 2007, she married the love of her life, Joshua E. Kuanfung, and would serve as CEO of JOSELI, an environmental company which they founded together, and she was proud that they had the honor of partnering with the US-EPA under the Safer Choice Program.
Elisa enjoyed life with an enthusiastic and unparalleled spirit; her passion for travel left few places undiscovered in her lifetime. She made friends in every room she entered, but always returned to family to share her experiences and wisdom. Elisa loved bringing people together and could talk with anyone about anything, bringing her joyful and unbridled laughter everywhere she went. She loved spending time teaching her grandchildren about science, travel, and her favorite Italian dessert, gelato. Until her very final moments, we were all impressed at her obvious devotion to her husband, and her willful spirit.
We will remember her when we see nature because of how she loved to garden, in travel because her wanderlust took her all over the world, in movies because she loved strong characters and infinite possibilities, in our friendships because she was a fierce friend, and in generosity because she never entered a home or an event without a very well-thought-out gift for those who were receiving her.
Elisa knew that the meaning of life was to build great and meaningful memories with family, friends and people we met along our life journey, because the journey is more important than the destination. Thank you, Elisa, for the wonderful memories and until we see you again, we will keep your memories always in our hearts.
Elisa was preceded by her father Gin Cuan and her mother Cindy Cuan. She is survived by husband Joshua, stepchildren Shannon and Alex and spouses, grandchildren Hayden, Constance, Lucca, and Kai, siblings Jim, Jose, Carmen and spouses; nephews Bill, George, Jeannie, Kathy and Phillip their respective spouses and family members.
