Selyne Adhiambo Okongo ( Mama Tiny ) who graced this world on May 7, 1968 and left us to become our guardian angel on December 7, 2024. Leaving us with memories that sparkle like stars on the darkest nights.
As the eldest child of the late Clementina and Nobert Ochanda. Selyne was a pillar of strength and wisdom. She was a devoted wife to Francis Okongo Malege. Sharing a remarkable 36 years of love that could inspire fairy tales. Their marriage was a beautiful testament to faith, laughter, and the occasional playful debate over who made the best chapati. Together, they created a family filled with love and joy.
Selyne was more than a wife She was a nurturing mother to her cherished daughters: Luizah (affectionately known as Tiny), Betty, and Christine ( lovingly called Tina ). who often found themselves calling her “Mama” every other minute. She was also a proud grandma to Francis Liam Ly and a treasured sister to Augustine (Salome), Elias (RIP), Vincent (Jossy) Samuel (Jacky RIP), Teresa and Jeremiah (Annie) Ochanda.
Sister in law to Peter (Jane), Mathias (Lydia), Mike (Florence) and David Malege.
Her home was a sanctuary filled with love and the irresistible aroma of home-cooked meals that transported everyone back to Kenya.
Known for her unwavering faith, Selyne was the first to lend a listening ear or offer sage advice. Many sought her out for guidance in their marriages, inspired by her own example of love and commitment. She had an uncanny ability to see the good in everyone, often bringing out the best in those around her with a smile that could light up even the gloomiest of days.
Selyne faced life’s challenges with grace and class often turning obstacles into opportunities for growth. She taught us that life's trials could be met with a strong heart and a sweet laugh, reminding us to find joy in every moment.
