Sarah (Sadie) Gilder Edmondson, 91, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 15, 2018 in Job's Way at Kirby Pines Retirement Community. She and her husband, Joe Moore Edmondson, were long-time residents of Memphis and Collierville. Joe Moore passed in 2006 and she now has happily gone to join him in their eternal home. Sadie was born on January 12, 1927 to Wilka and Rufus Rivers Gilder in Vardaman, MS where she grew up and lived until she and Joe Moore moved to Memphis in the early '50's. They were long-time members of Frayser Baptist Church until moving to Collierville and joining Germantown Baptist Church. Her life centered around family. She was a generous and loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, and grandmother. She was devoted to her career with Pennaco where it seemed she spent her whole paycheck buying Pennaco Round-The-Clock hosiery for all of her family members. Sadie leaves a son, Joe Howard Edmondson (Beth), of Memphis, and a daughter, Sara Ann Hudson (John) of Georgetown, TX; and five grandchildren, Jody Edmondson (Gina), Angela Edmondson, Emily Dieckmann (Carl), Cynthia Darling (Aaron), and Russell Hudson (Stacey); and five great-grandchildren. She had seven siblings of whom five predeceased her. She is survived by sisters, Jacqueline Gilder Eastridge of Memphis, and Bessie Fleming of Jackson, MS. Additionally, she leaves a host of nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. Visitation will be at 1pm on Thursday, December 20, 2018 at Midway Baptist Church in Vardaman, MS with the funeral service following at 2pm. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family wishes to thank all of the caregivers in Job's Way who have taken such great care of Sarah over these past few years and requests that any memorials be given to the charity of your choice.
