Sara M. Fish, lovingly known as Sally, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister, passed away on April 3,2025, at the age of 93. Born on October 20, 1931, in Cannelton, West Virginia, Sally lived a life marked by kindness, creativity, dedication, and unwavering devotion to her family and friends.
Sally earned a degree from West Virginia Tech, the same school where her husband, Bill (Totty) fish, also studied. Together they worked their way through college and life -- Bill utilizing the GI Bill and Sally contributing as an administrative assistant at West Virginia Tech. They were a team in live, supporting each other through every step of their 69-year marriage. Married on December 26, 1951, their bond remains an enduring inspiration to their family even after Bill's passing in November 2021. Sally missed her Totty dearly and has now joined him to watch over the family.
Throughout their life together, Sally and Totty lived in West Virginia, Mississippi, Virginia and Minnesota, before settling in Tennessee to be closer to their daughter Jayne. They counted themselves as blessed to have many great friends. Their final years were spent together at Town Village Audubon Park in Memphis, where the enjoyed a wonderful network of friends and a vibrant community.
Sally enjoyed a distinguished career in banking that spanned over 20 years, rising to the role of Vice President. She was a tireless worker but was fiercely committed to a balance of life and work. She was a regional officer for the National Association of Bank Women (NABW) and a trailblazer in providing career pathways for women in banking. She believed strongly in opening the door for others and her leadership and advocacy helped open doors for countless women to thrive in the financial industry.Her greatest joy was her family, to whom she dedicated her love and support. Sally had an artistic side and was known for her calligraphy and handcrafted greeting cards that brought beauty and joy to all who received them. Sally also had a great sense of fun -- she loved bingo, indulging in an occasional trip to the casino, and savoring a good chili dog from time to time. She was always up for a new adventure and was a dedicated supporter of her children's and grandchildren's activities, cheering them on whenever and wherever she had the chance.
Sally was preceded in death by her husband, Totty; her sister Ruth and her brothers John, William (Ding),Harold, James and Robert. She is survived by her daughter Jayne ( her spouse Jay), son Richard (his spouse Amy), granddaughters Dr. Madison (Maddie) Haddock (her spouse Turner) and Saraglen (Kilby)( and her spouse Kyle) , grandson Domenic (spouse Allyson),step- grandsons Christopher (Chris)(his spouse Megan) and Austin (his spouse Samantha), step-great-granddaughter Olivia and great-grandson Olin. Her family carries forward her legacy of love, creativity, determination and vibrant spirit, treasuring the wonderful memories she shared with them.
A celebration of Sally's remarkable life will take place athe Collierville Funeral Home, 3863 Baily Station Road on April 11,2025 with visitation being held at 9:00 a.m. and service at 10:00 a.m. All who knew her are invited to honor her memory and share in celebrating her journey.
