Ronald Peter Giometti passed away peacefully on July 26, 2023. He was 88 years old. He was preceded in death by his parents Peter and Eva Giometti and his brothers Thomas and David Giometti. He is survived by his loving wife Regina, and his five children Robin, Renee, Ron, Jon, and Lisa. He is also survived by his 16 grandchildren. Ron or “Gemo” as he was affectionately known, was born into a hard working Italian family from East Chicago, Indiana. He was a talented athlete and played college basketball at Michigan State and St. Joseph’s in Indiana. After college he served as a medic in the U.S. Army. He was a very successful salesman for Inland Steel Company for over 43 years, and even worked in their mills in high school. He moved his family to Germantown, Tn in 1973 and became an active member in the community. He coached basketball, became a 4th degree member of Knights of Columbus, and was a member of Unico - a non profit organization of Italian Americans that serve the community. He served as president of the local chapter of Unico and later as the district governor. He also volunteered for many years at Madonna Day School and truly loved working with all the children there. Throughout his life he was an active member of the Catholic Church, serving in many different capacities. Ron will be remembered for his good nature, honesty, and humor. He had a loving personality and made friends easily. He touched many people’s lives and knew how to make them laugh and feel comfortable. He will be dearly missed, but we are sure he will be hanging out with his brothers at the 19th hole in heaven. He will certainly be tough competition.
