Robert (Bobby) Riley Brown, Sr. 85, passed away peacefully at Baptist Reynolds Hospice in Collierville, TN on January 31, 2017. Retired ranch manager from Twin Hill Ranch, Collierville, TN. He also trained World Champion Cutting horses and helped many others in all equine disciplines over his lifetime. A National Cutting Horse Association (NCHA) member for over 50 years, as well as in the Members Hall of Fame. He was an American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA) judge for 17 years and NCHA judge for over 35 years.
His special gift were his kind words and keen interest in others. He shared his knowledge and taught others about being a better horseman and competitor. He and other horse enthusiasts helped the Youth in Tennessee High School Rodeo Association and local saddle clubs. It never mattered to him if you had money, he always wanted to help those that wanted to be better horseman. Many of his students have become NCHA World Champions, Futurity Champions and Finalists in other events.
He leaves his son, Robert Riley Brown, Jr., daughter, Jackie Brown Clark, both of Abbeville, LA. Also, daughter, Staci Brown DeMilt and husband, Kevin DeMilt from Cumming, GA. He was preceded in death by son, Robin Mark Brown and brother, Alan Brown. Other survivors are sister, Margie Brown Terrell; niece, Linda Terrell Coleman, and nephew William Terrell, Jr. all from Memphis.
Special thanks to all of his friends and family that walked with Bobby through life and helped make his a full one.
Service is set for Saturday, February 4, 2017. Visitation is at 1 p.m. at Collierville Funeral Home, 534 W. Poplar, Collierville, TN. Service immediately following at 2 p.m. and reception from 3-5 pm.
