Robert F. “Bobby” Ballard, 72, of Collierville, died Sunday, August 29, 2010. He retired as the Technical Service Manager of the Alpha Corporation. He is survived by his wife, Judy Looney Ballard; two daughters, Jill Ballard of Memphis and Kim Ballard of Knoxville; his sister, Betty Myrtue (Russ) of New Orleans, LA; his brother, Donald Ballard (Lynda) of Baton Rouge, LA; and four nieces and nephews. Mr. Ballard graduated from the University of Memphis (Memphis State) with a degree in Chemistry and Industrial Arts, with top honors. After graduation, he joined the U.S. Army where he served as a Sergeant. He loved animals, was a sports trivia enthusiast, had a great thirst for knowledge, and was a loving husband and father. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, August 31, and funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, September 1, all at Collierville Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Memphis Memory Gardens Cemetery. The family requests memorials be sent to the YMCA Scholarship Fund or a charity of the donors choice.
