Richard Alexander Russell passed away on June 27, 2024, in Collierville, Tennessee, the town he dearly loved. Born on October 9, 1953, to Lillie Ann and Howard Russell, Richard spent his childhood relishing his role as big brother and prankster to his three younger sisters, Carolyn, Martha, and Peggy.
Richard was a graduate of Whitehaven High School, class of 1971, and then continued his schooling at the University of Memphis before beginning his lifelong career in the trucking industry.
While at Whitehaven High School, Richard met his future wife and lifelong love, Kathy Graham on a big yellow school bus in 1970. They married on July 16, 1973 and enjoyed 50 years of devotion in marriage. Together they built a beautiful life and raised two children, Amy (Adams) and Rick Russell.
Richard was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who adored watching his grandchildren grow and thrive. He will forever be known for his humor, for his kindness, for his love of a good conversation over a cup of coffee, and for his unforgettable get-togethers with family and friends at his land in Hardeman County,Tennessee.
Richard's hobbies were rich and varied. He was an avid collector and an estate sale enthusiast. He was passionate about the outdoors, hunting, and truly enjoyed constantly learning about anything and everything.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Lillie Ann and his in-laws, Thomas and Johnnie Graham. His memory will be forever held in the hearts of his surviving family: his beloved wife Kathy; his children, Amy (David) Adams, and Rick (Julie Keller); his three grandchildren, Jacob, Josh, and Abby; his three sisters, Carolyn Foster (Taylor), Martha Harrell (Steve), and Peggy Jernigan; his brother-in-law Tommy Graham (Judy) as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
