Martha Jane Keough

Martha Jane Swaim Keough, 85, of Germantown, Tennessee passed away at her home on Monday, December 11, 2023. She was born in Henderson, Tennessee to the late James Howard and Martha Bland Swaim. She was the oldest of four children, Sue Swaim Hughes, James Swaim Jr., and the late Lynda Swaim King.

She graduated from Collierville High School and attended Lipscomb College. Then, she graduated from Memphis State University in 1960 with a Bachelor's degree in Education, and later obtained a Master's degree from there. On August 20, 1960, she married Thomas Patrick Keough and they were married for fifty-five years before his death in 2015. In 1987, Jane received the Rotary Award for teacher excellence. She retired from Memphis City Schools with over thirty years of teaching experience.

She is survived by her children; Kenneth Allen Keough (Melissa), and Kathryn Keough Swords (Brian). She also had four grandchildren; Leigh Anne Keough Staggs (Ryan), Dylan Keough, Laura Beth Keough, and Ava Swords, along with two great grandchildren; Windam Patrick Staggs, Alton James (AJ) Staggs.
