Born in Haleyville, AL, Margaret came to Memphis as a student at Memphis State University where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in journalism. Margaret met Billy J. King in 1960 and they married in 1962. Shortly after their marriage, Margaret left her journalism career to begin her life’s work as a Mom when they found out they were going to have twin boys. A few years later Bill and Margaret welcomed a third son. Margaret devoted her life daily to taking care of her family and running the household. She loved the Lord and lived out her faith in such a way that others could see the transformative power of Jesus. Margaret loved to be with her many friends and enjoyed shopping and her crossword puzzles. In the later years of her life, she had the great joy of being Grandma to five grandchildren. A role which she cherished and considered a great blessing in her life. Margaret was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She will be deeply missed, but we rejoice in the fact that she is being rewarded in Heaven for her love and devotion on earth.
Margaret was preceded in death by her father Vandon D. Vines, her mother Margie E. Sinclair, and her brother Jimmy Sample. She is survived by her husband of almost 60 years Billy J. King as well as three sons William D. King, Larry L. King and his wife Debra, and James A. King and his wife Kari. She also leaves behind five grandchildren Aubrey Wylie, Drew Hale, Ben Hale, Luke King, and Drew King as well as nine great grandchildren Layla, Jackson, Caroline, Katherine, Charlotte, Lillian, Lincoln, Max and Vivian. In addition, she leaves behind her sister-in-law Bea and many nephews, nieces, and cousins that she dearly loved in the Bristol, TN area, Florida, Kentucky, and in northern Alabama.
