Lillian Simmons Cole, age 85, recent resident of Germantown, TN passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 24, 2011. Formerly a resident of Nashville, TN she dedicated her life to her family, friends, and her Christian walk.
Mrs. Cole was born on January 11, 1926 to the late Thad A. Simmons and Lillian Middleton Simmons in Kentwood, Louisiana and spent her young life in McComb, MS prior to pursuing her adult life with her husband of 39 years, Robert (Bob) I. Cole in Middle Tennessee.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 1 at 1:00 at Woodlawn Roesch-Patton Funeral Home in Nashville, TN. Visitation will be from 11:30 – 1:00 Saturday. Entombment will be at the Woodlawn Mausoleum.
Mrs. Cole was preceded in death by her beloved husband Robert (Bob) I. Cole, brother Thad Simmons Jr., sisters Maxine Simmons Godbold, Ardis Simmons Blailock, and Shirley Simmons Wadsworth.
She is survived by her three daughters, Paula Cole Furlow of Nashville, TN, Lillian Ann Cole Rucker (Drew) of Germantown, TN, and Sandra Cole Dalton (Fain) of Collierville, TN. The delight of Mrs. Cole’s life was her 9 grandchildren Rob Furlow, Carla Furlow, Megan Kinney, Ginger Comstock, Carolyn Culberson, David Rucker, Rebekah Cochran, Luke Dalton, and Josh Dalton. In addition her life was blessed by 5 great-grandchildren, Andrew and Carmen Furlow, Reid and Hunter Comstock, and Cole Cochran.
The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorials be sent to the National Arthritis Foundation in Memphis, TN.
