Joy O'Neal Dawkins Roy

Joy O’Neal Roy, of Collierville, passed from this life Friday, August 12, 2016, on her 88th birthday, at the Memphis Jewish Home in Cordova. She was born August 12, 1928, in Humboldt, TN to the late Thomas Eastlack Dawkins and Cleadus Lula Davis Dawkins. She was a homemaker, worked in retail for Sears and was a member of Germantown Baptist Church. She enjoyed sewing and cooking. Along with her parents, Mrs. Roy was preceded in death by her husband; A. L. Roy. She is survived by 3 daughters; Darlene Cole (Bill Cole), Marilyn May (the late Robert May), Venus Roy-Harvath (Anthony Harvath), a son; Thomas Roy (Billie Jo Roy), a sister; Ora Curtis, 3 brothers; Tom, Laster and Sam Dawkins, 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends 5pm – 9pm Wednesday, August 17, 2016. A Celebration of Mrs. Roy’s life will be held at 10am Thursday, August 18, 2016 at Collierville Funeral Home. Burial will follow at 11:30am at the West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery. Memorials can be made to the Alzheimers Association.
