Gertrude Evelyn Taylor

Gertrude Evelyn Taylor, 89, of Collierville, passed away on June 22, 2016, at Baptist Reynolds Hospice House. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 26, at Collierville Funeral Home and a catered reception will follow. Interment will be held at West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery on Tuesday, June 28, at 1:15 p.m. Born on December 26, 1926 in Bethlehem, West Virginia, Mrs. Taylor lived the majority of her life in Pennsylvania and Texas, before moving to Collierville. She loved to travel, work cryptograms, and spend time with her family. Above all, Mrs. Taylor was a faithful and dedicated servant of God. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Paul Monroe Taylor, Jr.; her daughter, Carol Renae Turner; and her granddaughter, Rebecca Kathleen Lewis. She is survived by her daughters, Sharon Lee Cole (Mark) and Susan Kay Lewis (Paul); her son, Richard P. Taylor (Melodye); her sister, Virginia Irene James; seven grandchildren, David Jones (Misty), Jennifer Yarian, Chris Cole (Krissy), Andy Lewis (Jen), Dan Lewis (Megan), Jenna Webb, and Jake Taylor; and six great grandchildren, Tyler, Paige, Taylor, Brielle, Kiaya, Carsyn, and one more on the way. Lasting memorials in memory of Mrs. Taylor may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Baptist Reynolds Hospice House.
