David William Wahlen

On the evening of March 3, 2022 David passed away at home. He was 57 years old.

David was born January 7, 1965 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and was the first of four children. He moved to Memphis, Tennessee at 17 years old. He attended the University of Memphis for his undergraduate degree where he met and married his wife, LeeAnn. David and LeeAnn had one child, Kristen. He subsequently earned a Master of Business Administration from the University of Memphis. He worked at a couple of companies before becoming a manager at FedEx where he had more than 21 years of service. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, swimming, and attending Memphis Tigers football games with his daughter. He was a loving, thoughtful, and kind husband and father whose priority in life was spending time with his wife and daughter. He was an avid animal lover and having a large number of family pets brought him great joy.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, LeeAnn Heitkotter-Wahlen; daughter, Dr. Kristen Wahlen, DO; mother-in-law, Helen Heitkotter; mother, Barbara Wahlen; two sisters, Kathleen Barrett (Michael) and Kristine Cadieux (Michael); brother, Daniel Wahlen (Lori), James Thomas Clayton who was considered a son, and his second set of “children”, the family dogs, Lilly, Murphy, Jax, Lacey, and cats, Lexi, Ariel, Sophia, and Elsa.

He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Wahlen.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of David may be sent to Collierville Animal Shelter.
