Charlie G. Franklin

After nearly 80 years Charlie George Franklin, born August 25, 1930, passed away on June 11, 2010. He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Carolyn Croft Franklin; two children, Charlene Franklin and Chuck Franklin, and grandson Charles “Charlie” Preston Franklin. He also has a surviving sister Nellie Ruth Money of Bristol, FL. He was preceded in death by his sister Mary Lee Moscheo and daughter Courtney Ann Franklin. A seasoned traveling man, Charlie spent over 35 years on the road, first as a member of the Oral Roberts Evangelistic Association and then driving for a variety of musical celebrities from the world of gospel, country and rock. In nearly every place he and Carolyn settled they would establish a community of worship and several churches are still in existence. Charlie approached every day as a new day to make new friends and as an opportunity to keep a happy heart. He leaves behind many, many friends and family members who will miss his giant presence in our every day lives. Visitation at Collierville Funeral home is scheduled for Sunday June 13, 2010 from 5p – 8p and services will be held at Christ the Rock Church located at 8800 Winchester Avenue, Memphis, TN on Monday June 14 at 11:00am. The family will begin receiving family and friends at 10:00am. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to The Church Health Center, 1196 Peabody Avenue, Memphis, TN 38104.
