Mrs. Betty Hovater Massey, passed from this earth to be with our Heavenly Father, Friday, February 19th, 2021. Mrs. Massey is survived by her devoted husband of 65 years, Shelby Massey, her children Michael (Leanne) Massey, Beverly (Paul) Sharpe, her brother, Vernon Hovater, sister Lucille Hargett, 2 sisters-in-law, Dawn Kirby and Juanita Massey. She is also survived by her grandchildren Justin Sharpe, Hunter Sharpe, Grayson (Jessica) Sharpe, Brandon (Kristen) Massey, Nicholas (Lauren) Massey, Becky (BJ) Bolyard, Mica (Cody) Campbell, 17 great-grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild as well as her dedicated and loving nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Massey was born October 19th, 1936 in Franklin County, Alabama to Mr. Leonard and Mrs. Bertha Hovater. She is the youngest of 11 children.
Mrs. Massey lived a full and exciting life. She traveled the world with her loving husband, Shelby. She loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed talking to and visiting her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as often as possible. Mrs. Massey would spend time working in her garden everyday. She has also been a member of the Suburban Garden Club for 48 years and enjoyed socializing with her friends at their garden parties. Mrs. Massey also had a passion in raising awareness and donations for her church and other charitable organizations.
Mrs. Massey's love for her family came second, only to her love and devotion to God. Mrs. Massey has been a member of Germantown Church of Christ for over 40 years and was active in the Womens Ministry.
Mrs. Betty Massey will be deeply missed by everyone that was fortunate enough to know her.
The celebration of Mrs. Betty Massey's life will be February 27th, 2021, at Collierville Funeral Home, 534 West Popular Ave, Collierville, TN.
Visitation is 1:00pm - 2:00pm
Memorial Service is 2:00pm - 3:00pm
