Alfred Ray Williams, 91, of Memphis, Tennessee, passed away on March 17, 2023 after a long battle of esophageal cancer and is now in the presence of our Heavenly Father. Ray was born in Bethel Springs, Tennessee on January 18, 1932, to Ernest and Leva Williams. Ray graduated from Humes High School in 1951 and then served in the United States Air Force from 1951-1955. Once discharged, he served three years in the USAF Reserves, he was employed by MLGW for 32 years and retired in 1988. Ray was a member of Covenant Baptist Church and his greatest mission in life was to serve the Lord by serving the homeless and needy of Memphis.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 54 years, Esther Eileen Williams, his brother, Ernest Williams, his grandson, Jeffery Lance Williams and his great-granddaughter, Eileen Rhea Edwards.
He is survived by his wife of 13 years, Beulah Williams, two sons, Ronald Keith Williams (Debbie) and Glenn David Williams (Linda) both of Marion, Arkansas, and one daughter, Wendy Dale Glass (Curtis) of Collierville, Tennessee, six grandchildren, and eleven great grandchildren. He is also survived by two stepsons, eight step grandchildren and 14 step great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at Covenant Baptist Church, Collierville, TN on Tuesday, March 21st. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 6:00pm and the service will immediately follow at 6:00pm.
Interment will be at New Salem Cemetery, Bethel Springs, TN
