Yvonne F. Johnson, 86, went home to meet her Lord on Sunday, August 28, 2016. She was at her home surrounded by her children, and believed with all her heart that in all things we are more than conquerors through Jesus who loved us. She completely trusted that "God placed all things under his feet and appointed Jesus to be head over everything for the church, which is his body and the fullness of him who fills everything in every way." Ephesians 1:22
Yvonne was born in Minot, N.D., on November 16, 1929. She lived in Oregon with extended family during the last of the depression years, and ultimately moved and grew up in Southern California. She attended UCLA and, as part of her admission to college, recited the 23rd Psalm in the Hollywood Bowl. Yvonne left college to help with family needs upon the death of her father. She married Raymond F. Johnson on May 11, 1951, and immediately moved to Columbus, Ohio, as he attended seminary at Capital University. She became a pastor's wife when Ray was ordained, in 1957, at Church of the Masters in Englewood, Calif., the same church where they met and married. She loved her life as a pastor's wife and supported Ray throughout his life. Yvonne was also dedicated to her job with Kemper Insurance where she worked as an Executive Assistant until she retired.
Yvonne was preceded in death by her mother and father, John and Louise Freeman; her brother, Milton V. Freeman; and her husband, Raymond E. Johnson. Yvonne is survived by her sister, Pauline F. Schadler of Camas, Wash.; her children, Deborah L. Rosen (Vince) of Colleyville, Jeff R. Johnson (Susan) of Boise, Idaho, Jan R. Johnson of Oregon City, Ore.; John P. Johnson (Debbie) of Rockwall; Diana L. Jones (Richard) of Eugene, Ore. and David P. Johnson (Laurel) of Sunnyvale, Calif.; her grandchildren, Max and Jason Rosen of Colleyville, Aaron Johnson of Boise, Idaho, Julie and Samantha Johnson of Rockwall, Ryan, Tyler and Megan Jones and Eugene, Oregon, Stacy, Kelly and Spencer Johnson of Sunnyvale, Calif. Yvonne was also looking forward to meeting her first great-grandchildren in January and February of 2017.
In lieu of flowers, the family knows Yvonne would request you make donations to Compass Christian Church, who will coordinate donations to the ministries so close to her heart: His Story, Stephen's Ministry, Missions, and Women's Ministry.
