Young Jin Cho, 74, passed away on August 24th, 2023 in Irving, TX. He was born in Seoul, South Korea, and resided in California for 50 years before moving to Texas in 2021. Young was an incredible husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was an avid golfer, musical enthusiast, and a successful entrepreneur. Growing up Young taught himself to play the guitar and piano against his parents’ wishes. He would even hide under the blanket at night and put cotton balls in his guitar to refrain from making too much noise. He served in the Korean army for three years and saved two lives. He would always tell the story about how he had the strength of 100 men to carry the wounded soldiers to safety. In 1971, his mother accepted a pharmaceutical job which brought the family to America, only having $1000 to their name. In order to make ends meet, Young worked multiple jobs to help support the family. Eventually he made enough money to attend Northridge College where he majored in Business and started an import/export business called Roxpin. In 1977 he went back to Korea and little did he know that he would meet the love of his life and married soon after on May 13. This past May was their 46th wedding anniversary, a life filled with family, friends, and their interests in life. After he had his son, Peter, and daughter, Irene, he decided to take up golf. When golf came into his life, there was never a day he would miss out on playing a round. Sometimes he would play from dawn til dusk. Because of that, he taught his two children, Peter and Irene how to play golf. His passion for music stayed strong, and so he was actively involved in the church by playing the piano, guitar, and even singing in the church choir. After retiring in 1998, Young and Jong traveled the world and enjoyed their many adventures with friends. Once their first grandchild, Wyatt, was born, they decided to leave California and move to Texas. They quickly found a church, active golf friends, and a great interest in the Korean community. His focus remained on his two grandchildren, Wyatt and Whitney, and his love for his son-in-law Alex and his daughter Irene. Young is survived by his loving wife, son, Peter, daughter, Irene, and his two grandchildren. There will be a memorial service on September 6th at Bluebonnet Hills, in Colleyville, Texas.
