Bill was born on December 24, 1943, in Wheeling, West Virginia, Bill was the middle of three children born to the late Stella and Harry Porter.
Bill joined ROTC in high school and later transitioned to the National Guard where he proudly served for many years throughout his college and working years. Bill graduated from West Liberty College in West Virginia where he earned a business degree. After college, he immediately took and passed the CPA exam and was hired by International Harvester. Bill had a very successful career with IH and was transferred many times across the United States. An avid sportsman throughout his life, Bill traveled extensively in pursuit of his passion.
Bill married Denise Rogers in 2004 and moved to Texas. Bill and Denise shared a love of travel and nature and celebrated their honeymoon in Zimbabwe at Victoria Falls. In addition to their home in Southlake, the couple enjoyed their ranch, the Diamond W, and were still happily married at the time of his death.
Bill is survived by his wife Denise and his two children from his prior marriage as well as his sister, Carol Waligorski (wife of the late Joe Waligorski and mother to his niece Carrie) and his brother, Gary Porter in Pennsylvania and three grandchildren. His daughter, Michelle Leigh Green with her husband James Green and daughter Ellie. Michael Porter, Bill’s son, his wife Liliana Porter, and their two children, Dante and Luna. Michael also has an older daughter Dakota from a prior relationship.
Donations can be made to any charities supporting the advocacy and support of wildlife foundations. No flowers, please. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
