Sid was born on April 15, 1921, in White Hall, Arkansas to James and Ethel Parker. He graduated from Colbert High School in Colbert, Oklahoma in 1940. Sid served in the United States Army during WWII receiving an honorable discharge in 1945. He then served as a reservist in the United States Air Force receiving an honorable discharge in 1953.
Sid married his soulmate and love of his life, Elaine Geraldine Jordan, on December 17, 1946 in Decorah, Iowa. After some years of searching for the right living and work opportunities, Sid and Elaine opened their stone and gravel business, Sid Parker Stone Co., in February, 1971. There were lean years initially when they had to watch every penny sometimes sharing cheese and crackers for lunch or splitting a hamburger. The business started as a giant gamble and changed their lives when it became very successful. Sid enjoyed the company of many friends and customers who became lifelong friends. Sid and Elaine retired in 1992 from the business and were able to spend many enjoyable days together before her death in 2011.
Sid is survived by his son David Sidney Quist and wife Janny and daughter Patricia Ann Lancaster and her husband Gary. He is also survived by grandchildren, Gary D. and Sushia Lancaster and numerous nieces and nephews. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Keller, TX.
Sid was preceded in death by his parents, James and Ethel Parker, brothers James R., Claude, and George, and sisters Norma Cambron, Lee Ora Boswell and Elease Stricklin.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, a donation be made to the First Baptist Church in Keller, Texas, in memory of Sid.
A memorial service in honor of Sid will be held at the First Baptist Church in Keller on Thursday, December 7, 2017, at 2:00 p.m.
