Ruth Babson was born Aug. 3, 1930, in New Brunswick, N.J., to James and Catherine O'Donnell. She attended St. Peter's High School in New Brunswick, where she was known as an excellent dancer, a skill that unfortunately neither of her children inherited. Upon graduation, she worked in the administrative offices of the New Brunswick City Hall. Ruth married Walter Babson of Queens, N.Y., on Feb. 3, 1963. Walter worked for the Boy Scouts of America as an executive editor of "Boys' Life" magazine and then as editor of "Scouting" magazine. The couple moved to North Brunswick, N.J., and lived there until 1979. At that time, the Boy Scouts' national office relocated to Irving. Walt, Ruth and their children moved to Grapevine and lived in that town through Walt's death in 1992 and up to Ruth's death. Ruth served as an administrative assistant in both the North Brunswick school district and Grapevine-Colleyville ISD. She was a communicant and volunteer of St. Francis Catholic Church in Grapevine.
