Roy and Ruth were married 69 years. During high school he was in the band and played the clarinet/saxophone. He joined the Merchant Marines and served as a cook during the Korean War. After his discharge, he later met Ruth while helping his dad in his printing company. They affectionately referred to each other as “Happy” (Ruth) and “Lucky” (Roy). Worth (where all three kids were born), Arlington, TX, St. Louis, MO, Cocoa, FL, Smyrna, GA, Brownsville, Lubbock and Farmers Branch, TX. While his main talent was engineering, he also briefly owned/managed a motel, sold insurance and worked as a Quality Control manager for Haliburton. Roy has been a faithful Christian since a small child. He has preached, led singing, and served as a deacon in several congregations. For many years, he worked passionately with the World Bible Studies program at Webb Chapel church of Christ. While also known for his love of passing out mints to church members or anyone else he meets, Roy loved people and enjoyed good fellowship with his Christian family. A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. at Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the children’s home of your choice.
