Rosemary S. Marotta was born on February 1, 1937 in San Antonio. Rosemary graduated from St. Martin Hall and Our Lady of the Lake High School. After high school, she worked for the Government in Civil Service at Fort Sam Houston. She married Jesse R. Marotta (deceased) on June 23, 1957 at San Francesco di Paola Catholic Church.
Throughout her life, she was devoted to her family and her faith. In San Antonio, she was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society at San Francesco di Paola Catholic Church and a parishioner at St. Matthew Catholic Church. After Jesse’s job relocated the family to the Fort Worth area, she was active at St. John the Apostle, St. Rita, and Good Shepherd Catholic Community.
Dedicated to family life, by volunteering in various capacities as her daughters attended schools in San Antonio and Fort Worth, one of her greatest joys was being Nonie to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. As the leader of the Nonie Team, her grandchildren adored her loving affection and the many fun things she taught them. Her family loved her joyful spirit. Nonie’s team spent many summers in Nonie camp, enjoying fruit salad and fried cheerios, that her grandchildren still make today. Rosemary loved to cook, bake, and plan family celebrations. She was known for her delicious cakes, famous lasagna and she found joy in get-togethers around the kitchen table. Her artistic soul, her love of music, arts, crafts, and ceramics brought joy and special gifts to all her family and friends. Family gatherings always included fun and games: Bunco, Canasta, Contract Rummy, and Monopoly.
She is preceded in death by her parents Anastasio and Emma Bossi Sanchez; her beloved husband, Jesse, of 49 years; and her grandson Christopher Ryan Holzbach.
