He was born in Wichita Falls, Texas on January 11, 1948 and grew up in the nearby small town of Iowa Park. Roger graduated from Abilene Christian University in 1970 with a degree in accounting just two weeks before he would marry the love of his life, Carol.
Roger spent most of his early career as a CPA until he partnered to build Staples Direct Office Supply over 35 years ago. His business partners would become more like family where they went on to build several other successful businesses together.
Roger’s life work was caring for others and was the epitome of what it meant to be the hands and feet of Jesus.
He had a servant’s heart full of compassion and truly lived by God’s Word. Roger’s passion for others led him to begin a Homeless outreach program to serve the needs of the less fortunate living in Fort Worth. Even though Roger’s health declined in recent years, his faithful friend Rich Way continues the benevolent program in his honor.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents Harrel and Peggie Sullivan, his infant sister Patsy as well as his paternal grandparents, William and Myrtle Sullivan and maternal grandparents, Ernest and Laura Rogers.
Roger is survived by his wife Carol of 49 years. His son Brian Sullivan and wife Donna, his daughter Staci Markwood and grandchildren Brenden, Madison, Tyler, Kenzie and their father Brian.
The family would like to say a special thank you to Amity hospice during Roger’s time of transition and numerous friends and family who have shown an outpouring of love and support.
A celebration of life will be held Friday, November 1, 2019 at 10:00 am at the Lake Cities Church of Christ in Trophy Club. Visitation will precede the service at 9:00 am and Roger will be laid to rest at Highland Cemetery in Iowa Park, Texas at 3:00 pm.
Donations in support of the Homeless in Fort Worth may be made directly to Lake Cities Church of Christ in Roger’s honor.
