Rocky was born in Fort Worth to Virgil and Mildred Adams on September 11, 1948. He had fond memories of watching the Fort Worth Cats at the old LaGrave field, Leonard’s Department store, the free Fort Worth Zoo, and Casa Manana “in the round,” but new, and more wonderful memories were quickly made with his wife of 54 years, Vickie, their two sons, Pat, and Jon, and his seven grandchildren.
After graduating from Richland High School in 1966, he earned a degree in marketing from TWC in 1970. With a low draft number, he was immediately drafted into the Army, where he served as a legal clerk at Fort Gordon, GA. After his discharge, he took a year off and earned a second degree in accounting from the University of Texas at Arlington. He passed the CPA exam and got a job with Weaver & Tidwell as a staff accountant. His next stop, and where he spent the bulk of his career, was with CMC, an international metals company, where at one point, he oversaw twenty scrap yards. He finished his career in Business Development, traveling to Poland and S.E. Asia. He decided to retire early at 62, and started Ready Metals with his son Jon. Health issues forced him to sell his business in 2019, which is still going strong. Bored with the pandemic lockdowns, he decided to write a novel. Published in September 2022, it was a best seller among his friends and relatives.
Rocky is survived by wife Vickie Adams, sister Sally Chesbro, sons Patrick and Jon Adams, and grandchildren: Caleigh, Cooper, Carson, Aidan, Cambrie, Ella and Canon Adams.
