Bob was born in Chicago, IL on September 21, 1942. He grew up on a family farm in Olney, IL. He later moved to Peoria, IL where he worked at Pabst Blue Ribbon for 10 years. He married Virginia “Jenny” Lemke on March 10, 1972 in Peoria. IL.
Bob and his wife, Jenny, started their first company, Lemke Concrete, in 1972. Over the years they grew it into two incredibly successful businesses – Ready Cable, Inc. and Nortex Foundation Designs. Bob was a visionary who took a small company into greatness. He led with resolve and compassion, building a legacy that will live on for generations. Bob was not only a leader, but a mentor and friend to all. His loyalty, tenacity, ability to solve any problem, and love for his company and all of his friends, family, and employees was undeniable.
The only thing Bob loved more than his company was his family. He was surrounded by a large and loving family that will forever be impacted by his strong presence in their lives. He showed his love through his unmatched generosity and the time he spent with his family. In his free time, Bob enjoyed watching sports, westerns, and attending country concerts. He also loved to travel to Colorado, visiting their condo on various occasions.
Bob is survived by his wife of 50 years, Virginia; his children George Hackward (Diane), Mike Hackward (Elaine), Rodney Hackward (Wendy), Kenneth Lemke, Susan Batterton (Rob), Barbara Hanchette (Kris), and Rob Lemke; his siblings Betty Wilson (C.L.), Larry Lemke, and Jerry Lemke; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Alice Lemke, and sister-in-law Stevie Lemke.
