After many years of cooking countless meals for her family and working in her yard at her home of 55 years, Norma Jean Robinson, 92, of Hurst, Texas, died peacefully at Avalon Memory Care in Keller, Texas, on December 15, 2023.
She was born in Coal County, Oklahoma, in 1931 to Thomas and Edith Boatright, who worked as cotton farmers in Coal County for most of her childhood. She fondly recalled being the best basketball player of her time in Clarita, Oklahoma, where she attended school.
Norma met the love of her life, Kent Robinson, at the school in Clarita, and they began dating in High School. Excited to start their new lives together, the two were married at the Church of Christ in Clarita, Oklahoma, August 26, 1950. After 65 years of marriage, Norma was preceded in death by Kent on September 9, 2015.
Kent and Norma couldn’t wait to start a family of their own, and their children meant the world to them. Her children are Kenny and wife Cheri Robinson, Becky Hall and husband Don, Todd and wife Beth Robinson; Grandchildren Amy Emerson and husband Randy, Kyle and wife Wendy Robinson, Casey Hall, Michael and wife Kristen Hall, Seth and wife Ana Robinson, Luke Robinson; Great-grandchildren Rylie, Maddie, Ethan, Chelsea, Rose, and Seth Jr.; Great-great-grandchild Elizabeth Grace, and two more great-great grandchildren on the way.
Norma was an active member of Pipeline Road, later Legacy, Church of Christ, devoting her time and energy to teaching Sunday School and cooking Wednesday night meals for her church family. Everyone who knew Norma knew how much she loved working in her yard, and she could often be found watering, pulling weeds, or just picking up sticks and sweeping acorns off her driveway. She will always be remembered for how fiercely she loved her family, and she never missed a family gathering or event. We could not have asked for a better mom, grandmother, and friend, and will miss Norma every day. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved her.
Norma was preceded in death by her husband, Kent Robinson, her parents, Thomas and Edith Boatright, sisters Loriece Roberts and Darlene Weatherford. Norma is survived by her sisters Delpha Herndon and husband Bob, and Jan Keating, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchild and many nieces and nephews.
The family will remember Norma at a graveside service at Bluebonnet Hills Cemetery in Colleyville, Texas. In lieu of flowers, donations to Legacy Church of Christ would be greatly appreciated.
